Bavaria Trip – Part 5

22nd September to 25th September 2023

Heading back towards Luxembourg now. The sun is still shining and the skies are still blue. Found a secluded site just over the French border heading towards Saarbrucken – Camping du Muhlenbach. This site is built around 2 fishing lakes. The majority of the site caters for seasonal pitches but there are touring pitches. We had a lovely pitch on the lakeside with views over the lake and surrounding hills. If you are looking for quiet and peace this is the place, or if you like fishing for sturgeon or carp. I’ve seen some large fish caught and returned over the last couple of days. The facilities are adequate – a couple of self-contained bathrooms with a coin meter for hot water.

My childish sense of humour also liked the nearest town to the campsite. It is an old town built around French fort and goes by the name of Bitche. The barrack there is called Bitche Camp. Kept me amused most of the day.

The area has several pathways for walking in the hills. We tried a few, but Moira got quite freaked out by the tell-tail signs of wild boar by the paths. Wild boar apparently inhabit the area in reasonably high numbers. We didn’t see any though – pity.

Distance so far 2178 Km according to google maps.
